Our names are Denise and Melissa, we are the founders and CEO of D&M Divine Beauty.
A mother and daughter black owned business, based in Boston Massachusetts. At a very young age, I was very curious about nature and its natural form.
I would take hibiscus flowers (which at the time I absolutely had no idea the type of plant it was) and put it in water to make a paste for my doll's hair. I always enjoyed experimenting with different plants to make products. I never knew that God was preparing me for a season like this.
At the tender age of 14, I was doing my own hair; I braided, permed, and jerry curled my Mom and all five of my sister's hair. As I got older, I became a licensed beauty therapist.
How D&M Divine Beauty was birthed
I'm a nursing assistant by trade. I remembered being at home one day praying about my Health care business when I heard the Lord say to me, ''WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR HANDS?'' Similar to what He said to Moses in Exodus 4:2. The Holy Spirit directed me to Genesis 1:29, where it spoke about the different herbs. This is when I started my experimentation and study on the benefits and health effects of various herbs and the healing aspects it offers.
At that time, my daughter Melissa was 14 years of age and had really bad acne which caused her to lose a bit of confidence. We tried different products on the market but nothing worked. This is when I started making turmeric soap for my daughter's acne problem. Less than a month after my daughter started to use our products, her face became free of acne; as a result she regained her confidence. I also started making hair oils for myself and my daughter, seen that from my childhood days, my hair just could not grow pass my shoulders, which as a black woman, I didn't want my daughter to think that this was natural or normal. My husband also uses the hair oil on his beard and he has been pleased with how his facial hair grew healthier, stronger, and softer. He was tremendously elated at the results and, as a result, he encouraged me to share this successful experience with other persons who may be experiencing problems with acne, stagnant hair growth, is in need of healthier hair and an overall healthier skin. I've sent out samples of all my products to my family and friends to whom have been very pleased and satisfied with the positive results. My immediate family members, extended family and friends have been encouraging me to share my creativity and natural products with the world at large and to desist from allowing my God given gifts to lay dormant, and so, D&M Divine Beauty was born.
It's our desire that each and everyone of our customers will be blessed as they use our products that God has given us.
